DBA Annual Washington Visit
The Delaware Bankers Association conducted their annual DBA Senior Executive Washington Visit, March 7th through the 9th. The 2018 Washington Visit provided members the opportunity to meet with key regulators at the FDIC, the OCC, the CFPB, and FinCEN. The group also met with Senator Tom Carper, Senator Chris Coons, and Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester. Breaking News: Sweeping Senate Majority
Passes Bipartisan Regulatory Reform Bill
In a bipartisan 67-31 vote, the Senate passed S. 2155, the bipartisan regulatory reform bill crafted by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.). The bill includes several provisions that are longstanding priorities in the American Bankers Association’s Blueprint for Growth. Federal Reserve of Philadelphia - Issuance of CA 18-2 Letter: Revised “A Guide to HMDA Reporting: Getting It Right!”
This CA 18-2 letter distributes a revised “A Guide to HMDA Reporting: Getting It Right!” (Guide), which reflect amendments to Regulation C made by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau) in a final rule issued in October 2015 and amended in August 2017. The Bureau modified the types of institutions and transactions subject to Regulation C, the types of data that institutions are required to collect, and the processes for reporting and disclosing the required data. The updated Guide – which applies to HMDA data collected beginning on January 1, 2018 that is to be submitted by March 1, 2019 – is intended to assist financial institutions to comply with HMDA and Regulation C by providing helpful background information and an easy-to-use summary of key provisions.

Equity markets rallied sharply (+1.7%) after the February Non - Farm Payroll report was released on Friday (Mar. 9) by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. By contrast, the previous employment report, which was released in early February amid a market correction, prompted a negative reaction by the stock market. Job gains were robust, as total non - farm payroll rose by 313,000 jobs. Most sectors of the economy ex perienced solid job gains, which is an encouraging sign. The construction and manufacturing industries were positive outliers in the report and collectively added more than 90,000 jobs.
